Graduate School Newsletter - May 2011

May 2011

Dean's Message
Creighton University's Graduate School honored more than 90 graduates this May -- sending them off to make the world a better place with their talents and ideas.

As we look back, our year at Creighton has indeed reflected strong trends in graduate school education.

Master's level education continues to be the largest segment of graduate education in the U.S.

We, in turn, have seen healthy growth and robust interest in our new programs.

What's more, online delivery of programs and the enrollment of more nontraditional students have marked our year. And we have seen an economy that encourages a return to school having a positive impact on our Graduate School.

Graduate education is a critical component of America's competitiveness and innovation.

We have the unique opportunity at Creighton to prepare our students with the knowledge, skills and values to build a more just world.

Please visit us soon and see for yourself. We'd love to welcome you back.

-- Gail M. Jensen, Ph.D.
Degree focuses on research
Among the May graduates of Creighton's new master's degree program in Research Design and Analysis (RDA) was Michael Gibilisco (pictured above), who scored a perfect 800 on the mathematics portion of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) last year. Gibilisco is already being snapped up by the University of Rochester’s Ph.D. program in political science. Creighton's program is funded by a grant from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
