It was great to welcome our freshman class to campus in August. They are an impressive group in terms of academics and leadership. We also extend a warm welcome to our returning students. Creighton Named No. 1 in the Midwest

Creighton was named No. 1 in the Midwest for the 11th consecutive year in U.S. News & World Report magazine’s 2014 "America's Best Colleges" edition. The magazine also recognized Creighton as a "best value." In addition, Creighton was recognized by the Princeton Review as one of the nation's top 378 colleges.

CU Opens Apple-Authorized Campus Store

An Apple-authorized campus store opened at Creighton in September. Through this educational-commercial partnership, students have a unique opportunity to gain real world, hands-on experience running a retail store through a business practicum course. Program Gives CU Students an EDGE

The Creighton EDGE has opened its suite of offices in the Reinert Alumni Library. The EDGE Program is designed to provide Creighton students with a holistic approach to academic advising, the pursuit of advanced studies in graduate/professional school and career planning. Contact the Creighton EDGE at or 402.280.5566, or print and save this informational document.

Fall Career Fair Set for Oct. 4

Students can meet face-to-face with employers at the Fall Career Fair on Friday, Oct. 4, noon-3:30 p.m., Harper Center Ahmanson Ballroom. It's one of two career fairs sponsored by the Creighton EDGE and held on campus during the academic year. Students can find more information here.

Free Academic Coaching Available

The Creighton EDGE provides individual and group tutoring, academic counseling and coaching, academic strategy programs and workshops, and assistance with any issues that could impact a student’s ability to experience academic success at Creighton.

Plenty of Opportunities for Involvement

With more than 200 student organizations on campus, Creighton offers students plenty of opportunities to get involved beyond the classroom. A listing of the different campus organizations can be found here. At Creighton, it's easy to get involved!

Student Authorization Needed to View Grades

Federal law requires that communication regarding academic performance, financial aid and billing be between the student and the university. However, students can grant parents access to this information via their NEST accounts. After logging in, students should click “Authorize Your Parent or Others to View Your Information.”

Course Discount Offered to Parents

Parents of full-time Creighton students in the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business or College of Nursing are eligible to take one undergraduate course each semester for just $300 plus fees (books and supplies are extra). Both parents may take advantage of this offer. Learn More

Helping Students with Financial Literacy

Financial literacy

Loan debt is a reality for many students in today's higher education environment. Creighton's Financial Aid Office can provide information and resources to help students manage their student loan obligation. In fact, the office offers educational support on a wide range of financial matters, from developing a personal budget to financing higher education. Learn More

Check Out the Study Abroad Opportunities

Students can learn about study abroad opportunities in more than 50 countries (and apply for passports) at the Fall Study Abroad Fair on Monday, Sept. 23. Applications for summer and fall 2014 participation are due Dec. 1; applications will continue to be accepted through March 1, pending space availability. Experience Creighton's Online Retreat

Think you’re too busy for prayer? Experience Creighton's popular 34-week Online Retreat, which offers a framework for daily prayer for very busy people. Based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, tens of thousands have found it a grace-filled experience of God's love and call. Prefer a book? Loyola Press has published the Online Retreat in a book, Retreat in the Real World.

Sign Up for Student Health 101

Parents are encouraged to sign up for the parent version of Student Health 101. This monthly electronic magazine is packed with articles relevant to today’s student -- from developing effective study habits to choosing a healthy diet. More

Shoo the Flu Vaccine Clinics Delayed

Due to a delay in vaccine availability, Shoo the Flu clinics have been rescheduled to begin in October. Many students received the clinic schedule during orientation and move-in. With the delay in shipment, September clinics have been rescheduled. Please encourage your student to check the revised calendar.

Highlighting Student Achievement

The University’s Office of Marketing and Communications develops hometown news releases and web postings reporting on student honors. To be included in these messages, students must self-report this information through their NEST account. Once logged in, they should select “Personal Information,” then “Update Hometown Information.”

Campus Safety is a Top Priority

Campus safety is a top priority for the University, and Public Safety offers resources to keep students safe -- from emergency "blue light" phones on campus to a  "safe ride" program that allows students to request an escort between campus locations from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Public Safety also encourages students to be aware of their surroundings and educate themselves on campus safety issues. Encourage Your Student to Sign Up for CUAlert

With the start of a new academic year, students are reminded to sign up for CUAlert. CUAlert delivers emergency notification messages via text, phone and e-mail. Students also can add contact information for parents to be included on the alerts. Encourage your student to sign up here.
